Prayer is an essential element in the lives of Eastern Orthodox Christians; not only in our daily activities do we ask for prayers, but in our times of need.
For our departed loved ones, continued prayers are especially important and needed by those who have departed this life before us. We pray for the dead and ask God to have mercy on their souls through His abundant love and mercy.
Through prayer we remain connected with those who have physically departed from us.
Continuing to pray and ask the Good Lord to intercede on behalf of the souls of our departed loved ones (both friends and family) clearly demonstrates our love and commitment to those who have meant so much in our lives and have departed this life for what we believe and pray to be life everlasting.
It remains our duty through love to pray now and always for one another.
